The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.

But this year, as protests across the have risen the cost of oil, the concern of discovering alternative sources of fuel has actually entered sharp focus.

In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints worldwide, one company is taking advantage of the growing pressure to find options to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving rewarding too, currently their client-list contains McDonald's.
